Kennedy City 10:32 PM: Two Days After The Fight

“Ugh!” The girl moaned as she collapsed onto her bed,

It had been an exhausting couple of days, and all she wanted to do now, was fall completely asleep

And she was about to do just that when suddenly her phone rang

She turned to see it buzzing away on her nightstand

“Nope! Sorry mysterious caller, too tired” She sighed ignoring the incessant ringing until it finally stopped… but then it immediately started up again

“rrgh” She growled looking at the annoying device, but she let it ring until it stopped

“Ok, now maybe I can get some-”

It rang again

“Oh come on!” She cried “What does the universe have against me getting even a little bit of sleep?”

The girl stood up and grabbed the phone from the nightstand, answering it in a huff

“Whoever this is, if you call my phone one more time I swear to-”

“Hey Skyler” The voice interrupted

Skyler froze in her tracks, she knew that voice

“Max?” She asked, keeping the shakiness out of her tone

Max smiled

“Yeah Skyler, it’s me”

She sat back on her bed, shaking hands gripping the phone

“Max what the heck!? The hospital! They told me you died! What the heck is going on!?”

He looked around the room he was in, where would he even start on that question, there was so much he wanted to tell her… But that just wouldn’t be fair to her.

“Listen..." Max started, "I know that we aren't that close anymore, and that you've probably got your own new friends and everything now,"

Skyler’s eyes were drawn to her bedroom door, and she couldn’t help thinking about the two guests that were staying in her house

"But my world has kind of gone haywire, and, you were the only person I could think of, to talk to. I just needed you to know that I was OK"

Skyler didn't say anything

"And I'm sorry, but you won't be hearing from me in a while, so please just know that I'm OK" Max continued

“Max…” She said, “What is going on?”

"Just some things that i need to take care of" Max responded

Skyler paused

"Just be careful" She responded

“I will” Max lied “But the same goes for you”

“Of course” She lied

“Alright then…” Max began "…Goodbye Skyler Storm…”

“…Goodbye Max Owens”

And with that they both hung up, leaving each one to be alone with their thoughts

                                                                          --------------------------------------

Max set the phone down and walked out the door of his room into the living room

Everyone sat there on the sofa, waiting for him

"Alright," He said "let's get started"

                                                                          --------------------------------------

Chase sat at his kitchen table, listening to the call

“…Goodbye Skyler Storm…”

“…Goodbye Max Owens”

They hung up ending the call and leaving Chase alone in the silence of his apartment

“Skyler Storm…” He whispered to himself “Skyler Storm… I’ve heard that name before”

Quickly he grabbed his laptop and started searching through his files

Then like a wrecking ball to the brain, it hit him, and he pulled up the files

In front of him were two files... The files that had started it all

These were the very first files that he had stolen from his father, the files that had led him to the infiltration project, to Wendy, and to him seeing who his father really was.

In the first file was just a random batch of code, but in the second one…

He clicked on it… Inside the file were two profiles with no name

The first one belonged to Jerry Wong, the head engineer for the Infiltration Project… But the second one didn’t have a name attached

That was the one he clicked on, and the first thing that stood out was the profile picture of a blond thirteen-year-old girl

The name under it read Skyler storm

Chase smiled

There was something about her that wasn't right, something... off. But he couldn't figure out exactly what it was... Yet.

For now he would just keep his eye on her

“Alright…” He said as he closed his laptop and stood up

In an instant he was on the roof of 432 Park Avenue, overlooking the City below him

He stepped forward onto the edge, enjoying the adrenaline that started to flow as the wind picked up

And in that moment, he was filled with the coolest feeling, the feeling that things were about to get a whole lot more interesting.

With a grin, he shifted his weight, so that he started to fall over the edge

“Let’s have some fun”
