New York 2:30 PM
Darla casually walked over to the small hotel sink, and got out here make up bag. It had been a long couple of days, and of course there wasn’t an end in sight any time soon, still she didn’t regret her decisions. She reached down and began to put her make up on. Suddenly she froze as she was hit with an unusually strong gust of wind.
“Image is everything you know” she casually said as she finished putting on her makeup.
Chase said nothing.
Soon she turned around to face him, now finished with her makeup. Chase stood there next to her window, arms crossed in his customary red and black speed suit, his mask revealing none of his emotions.
“Don’t suppose I can get you to take your mask off so that we can have a civilized conversation?” she asked
Chase still said nothing.
“Guess not” she said thinking, then she walked over and reached into her mini fridge. “Want some water?”
Still nothing
“Right” she sighed “well here we go”
Chase stepped forward, there were many different ways this conversation could go, and in a millisecond he reviewed all the ways he could think of so as to get the desired results. Finally after he decided on an opening, though no time had passed at all to Darla.
“What’s his endgame?” he questioned sternly. Darla had a look of boredom on her face.
“Are you serious?” she chuckled slightly amused “surely you know that I’m more loyal than that.”
She sounded kinda insulted
Chase’s eyes narrowed. Instantly he was in front of her, his form towering over the smaller woman, the gust from his speed whacking her in the face, and causing her hair to blow in every direction.
Once she could, Darla looked down, four sharp silver metal blades were right up to her neck.
“I do, but I also know that people will throw loyalty out the window to save their own pathetic life” he growled.
For a second Darla said nothing, not taking her eyes off the claws threatening to pierce her neck, but that didn’t last too long.
“riiight” she acknowledged slowly lifting her finger and pushing Slash’s claws to the side away from her neck. “Unfortunately I’m not spineless like that, and besides, we both know that you wouldn’t do that. Killing isn’t on your agenda”
She had called his bluff. Chase didn’t like the way this conversation was going. He was not at all threatened by the smaller woman, but she wasn’t threatened by him either.
“now if you’ll excuse me, I have to finish getting ready for a press conference, now that my hair and probably makeup are all out of sorts.” She complained, pushing past Chase back to the sink.
“What’s going on Darla?” he growled in his usual tone.
Darla rolled her eyes, this was getting annoying, and she had to get ready.
Why don’t you stay for the press conference? That way your questions can be answered and I can get ready.
Suddenly Chase was once more right in front of her, claws out.”
“Where is my father?!” he demanded
Darla stared right into his mask. “Chase, please leave my room”
Chase stared right back at her, he wanted so badly to make her talk, it would be so easy! But he knew that it wouldn’t do any good right now.
“Watch yourself” He warned in a menacing tone. And in one more gust of wind, Darla was left alone, she stood there for a couple of seconds, considering her options. Then she picked up her phone, and dialed.
