New York 7:21 AM (Ten minutes prior the big boom)

Jason’s heart raced like crazy as he pushed through the crowd. He wasn't alone, on the other side of the crowd and coming toward him was an acquaintance of his. Not for long though, after this he was free. He looked around him, he was entering Times Square, people surrounded him on every side, families, with kids. He forced himself to look straight ahead and keep walking. Thought the thought of what he was about to do, made him sick, but he had no choice. So he continued through, till he was right in the middle of Times Square.

They awkwardly hugged to give the illusion that they knew each other. Then they quickly looked around to make sure they hadn’t been followed. They hadn’t been.

“Do you have it?” the gruff looking man asked. He was a big man, but not insanely big, but Jason still felt small in comparison.

“Yeah right here” Jason said taking off his backpack and laying it on the ground. He knew what was inside, he was never specifically told, but he knew. For he locked eyes with the man, his eyes showed experience, it was obvious he had done something like this before. Jason tried his best not to think about it.

“Alright then,” the second man said, and with that Jason nodded and turned and away. That was the plan that was what he had been “hired” to do. He was supposed to drop the backpack with that man, and then get far enough away to wait for the signal.

He took his hand out of his pocket, and looked inside, he held a slender device, with a single button on the top. He was supposed to press that when he got the signal. He closed his eyes, trying to push the thoughts that kept pushing themselves to the top of his head, and kept pushing his way through the ocean of people. Until he was fairly far away.

Suddenly he stopped, and looked back. His phone buzzed, and sure enough, it was a text from an unknown number.

The text consisted of two words. “Do it”

Slowly he looked around Times Square, big electronic signs advertised new movies and brightly colored car and deodorant ads, as tourists and just everyone bustled around taking it all in, there was so much life. Then he looked back at the device in his hand holding it up to his face with his thumb hovering over the trigger. So much death. Quickly he reached into his other pocket and grabbed his wallet, holding it next to the device. Carefully he opened his wallet, inside was a picture with a small boy, maybe about six years old. Then he looked back at the trigger. His eyes were now filled with tears, and his voice was weak when he spoke.

“I’m so sorry”

His thumb pressed the trigger. Then there was a deafening BANG and the world filled with light.
