Helicopters, both police and News, flew above surveying the scene

Too bad none of the footage or any of the pictures would last more than seven Millisecond before mysteriously disappearing

Chase sat on the ground of Manakacha Point, watching the scene in front of him from his perch overlooking Supai, as he typing away at his computer. He was wearing a brand new Slash Suit and mask, along with a new computer pack.

In fact, he was so focused on what he was doing, that he didn’t notice Max land beside him

“You’re looking better” Max growled

Chase spun around, still wearing his mask

“Max!” He laughed as his body suddenly vibrated out of control for a split second “你一直在忙什麼？Все хорошее? Όλα καλά;”

Max looked at him confused

“What? Chase what are you-”

Chase slapped his forehead laughing, “Oh I’m sorry, none of that was actually in English, was it? Right, sorry, yeah everything’s still a little jumbled up right now”

“Chase! You’d better start-”

“Hey” Chase interrupted “Which one of these is English? Γεια σου? Or Olá?”

“Neither!” Max exclaimed, “What’s wrong with-”

Chase suddenly burst out into insane laughter, gripping his head, before he calmed down and stood upright again

“Sorry!” Chase smiled “Just Pensei em algo que me fez rir” 

“Chase!!” Max yelled, his desperation becoming apparent in his eyes “What are we going to do!? We failed! Tech has taken control of my home! He’s used Malak and turned the whole city against us, he blamed the entire attack on us. Everyone is a wreck! What are we going to do?!”
Chase took his mask off, putting it in a side pocket of his backpack

Max could immediately tell, there was something different in his green eyes, something darker
 

“What do you want me to do?” He asked

“I would like you to come and help me fix it!” Max snapped

“Why?” He asked “I already lost that game, and the next one is gonna start any second, it’s probably already started! I don’t have any time to dwell on the past”

Max stepped back, and Chase looked at him again

“What the heck are you saying?” Max growled unknowingly floating off the ground by a couple of inches

“I lost the game,” Chase shrugged “But don’t worry, I’ll win the next on-”

Suddenly he was cut off

“What!?” Nikki yelled in anger

Chase and Max both turned to see Nikki leap onto the cliff they stood on, from over the edge. Luke, in monster form, climbed up behind her, carrying Nicholas on his back

“My home was destroyed!” She yelled, “The whole city went up in flames, and I still don’t know whether my mom is dead or alive! And you call it a game!??”

Chase looked at her, then, to Luke (Now back to normal) and Nick, then back to Max

“OK, I know two of them, but who’s the one with the cat ears?” Chase asked to Nikki’s irritation

“I’m talking to you!” Nikki demanded, “My mom might be dead!”

Chase turned back to her

“Yes, I heard you,” Chase replied, getting annoyed “Join the club. Now, again I ask, who are you?”

“No!” Nikki said, “The real question is who you think you are!”

Her ears lit up, and Chase felt her suddenly try to search through his mind

“Ngh!” Chase grunted grabbing his head, then he glared at the girl trying to look inside his head

“AAAAAGGHHHHH!!!!!” Nikki suddenly screamed grabbing her own head

Chase was suddenly grabbed her by the neck with his right, clawed hand, and held her over the cliff, ignoring her screams of pain

“Don’t you EVER Try to get into my head, EVER AGAIN!!!” He yelled drawing his left arm blade and holding it up to the girl’s throat “Do you have any idea what happened the last time something got inside my head!?”

Nikki felt her heart skip three beats as she hung over the drop below her

“Chase stop!” Max yelled

Without a second thought, Luke suddenly pounced forward, transforming in mid-air

Chase threw the girl over the edge, and jumped onto the air by a couple of feet, bringing his feet over his head, and fell back to the ground as the beast landed, smashing his head into the ground
 

Shocked, Max quickly dove over the cliff after Nikki, while Chase jumped off of Luke, and kicked him into his brother, neutralizing them both

Chase stood there, as Max floated back up over the cliff's edge, with Nikki floating beside him, setting her down behind him

She was still visibly weak, both from what just happened and from the pain that she felt when she tried to read his mind

“H-How did you” She began

“Stay out of my head, telepath” Chase snapped, pointing his arm blade at her, but Max stepped in front of her, as she suddenly ran to help Luke and Nick, both of which were already weakened from the previous day's events

“What the heck is wrong with you!?” He yelled, gesturing to everything “Have you gone insane!?”

Chase shrugged “As I said, everything’s still a little jumbled”

“Well unjumble it!” Max demanded, “We have work to do here!”

Chase looked at Max, with a distant look that Max didn’t like

“You have work to do here,” He said plainly

“What?” Max asked

“I’m sorry,” Chase said “But from here on out, I can’t afford to waste time. From here on out, stopping Tech is my one, and only priority, everything else comes second. This…” He gestured to the town below them “This is no longer relevant to the game”

“So what? You’re just going to leave?” He fumed “leave me in the destruction you leave behind?!” Max fumed

“Max don’t you see” Chase laughed “This is only one, small, little section of the board! There is SO much more going on! And so much that I have to do! The next game is about to start!”

Max clenched his fists 

“Well while you’re out there, what am I going to do? Because I can’t do this on my own!” Max challenged

Chase gestured to the three Teens to the side

“I don’t think you’ll have to” Chase answered plainly, his face refusing to show emotion,

Luke stood up and shook his head, as Nikki helped Nick up

When he saw Chase he stood in front of Nikki (Much to her annoyance) and growled, but Chase ignored him

“They’re all broken” Max retorted “That’s what Tech did, he broke them, along with everyone else in the city”

“So what?” Chase laughed “Never stopped me! And it didn’t stop you! Being broken doesn’t have to be a handicap, it just means that you’re freer to do things your way, to make the correct moves than a fixed person, use it to your advantage!”

Max shook his head and stepped back

“You obviously aren’t who I thought you were” He growled reaching into his back pocket and pulled out the black mask

“Take this with you,” He said, floating it over to Chase, as he started to walk towards the others

Chase caught it and looked at it, his image reflecting in the lenses, 

“You know what?” Chase said, causing Max to look back “I don’t need this one, you keep it”

He threw it back to Max,

“Seems to me that you’ll need to hide your identity anyway,” Chase said

Max caught it, a bitter look on his face

Luke, Nikki, and Nick all walked up to Max’s side

With a laugh, Chase reached into his backpack, and pulled out a small communication device, tossing it towards Max, who caught it and looked at it in his hand

“We’ll be in touch” Chase smiled “Till next time Max Owens”

Max watched him slide his mask onto his face… and suddenly he was just gone, no boom, just a blur, and he was gone.

And for a moment no one said a word, as they watched the dust settle

“Good riddance” Luke spat

“He could've been useful” Nick commented “I’ve never seen anybody so fast”

Nikki stepped forward 

“He’s a jerk,” She said, then turned to Max “We don’t need him”

Max looked at her “We?”

She nodded,

 

"I'm gonna figure out what happened to my mom, no matter what it takes, count me in"

 

Luke and Nick stepped forward, turning around to face him with Nikki

"Malak locked up our dad," Luke said "And we'll do anything to get him back, and to get back at Malak"

Max smiled, then levitated himself a couple of inches off of the ground, forming a fist with his hand

“Right!” Max started “Who wants to help me permanently take down Malak, and simultaneously take back Dragon’s Canyon from the man Malak is now working for?”

The three teens in front of him smiled, giving Max their answer
