BOOM!!

Something blew up somewhere, but Nikki didn’t care enough to figure out where, she wasn’t focused on anything other than her mom

She ran along the third level, desperately making her way through the screaming crowd and to her home

Getting fed up, she gracefully jumped up, and expertly parkoured over the couple of robots below her with literal Cat-like agility as she used her tail to balance herself

Comeoncomeoncomeoncomeoncomeon!!!

She was almost there! Her house was just a couple more blocks

Suddenly out of nowhere one of the robots jumped out of the alleyway and aimed its gun at her

“Yikes!” She yelped jumping into the air as it opened fire, just barely singing the hairs of her tail, she spun around in the air, and landed on the robots head, throwing it off balance as she jumped back again and stuck the landing

But as she turned around again, another one appeared out of nowhere!

“No, wait!” She yelled as it aimed, but just as it fired, there was a blur and the robot was propelled over the edge

Nicholas (The fast kid) stopped and looked at Nikki with wide eyes

“Get down!” He yelled,

 

She turned around to see the other one get up, just as three more landed beside it

Nikki jumped straight up, as Blur ducked out of the way of the line of fire just in time, and grabbed the edge of a window, quickly swinging herself in, but no sooner had she done so when a small beeping device was thrown in after her

Oh no!

Without thinking twice she jumped back out, right as the room went up in flames,

But now she had a bigger problem, she was falling straight towards the robots, and they weren’t going to wait for her to hit the ground to attack

“Hang on!”

Before she could even process those words, she was suddenly grabbed out of the air by someone, getting her out of the way just as bullets flew by, and landed on the ground

“Ow! Ugh!” They grunted as they crumpled to the ground, but they couldn’t stay and rest

Luke drew his claws

“Come on Cat-Girl!” He yelled getting to his feet, and taking off in the opposite way of the robots,

She didn’t need to be told twice, and was immediately right on his tail, (Not literally only she had one of those)

“Names Nikki!” She shouted angrily

“Luke!” Luke replied, “Now come on! Up here!”

He ran up the set of stairs that were built into the Canyon wall, leading up to the end of the level above

Nikki was a couple steps behind, and right before she could leap her way onto that staircase, the ground in front of her exploded

“AGH!” She screamed as she flew back, landing on her back

A Bot came from the sky and landed right in front of her, she was now surrounded

“Nikki!” Luke yelled, 

He immediately felt his hand start to shake

“AGH!!” He cried crumpling to the ground, he could feel it, trying to break free, roaring within him, as the bots closed in on Nikki

“Stand down, and you will die peacefully” The robot in front ordered

Nikki tried to move, but her leg suddenly seared with pain, of course, like the cliché victim she had hurt her leg

“You have got to be kidding me!” She griped

Luke looked down from one of the platforms on the stairs, gripping his shaking hand tightly

“No, come on! Please no! I can’t lose control” He muttered to himself as he gripped his shaking hand, it was starting to change, slowly but surely, and Luke didn’t know if he could stop it

“Bro!” Nicholas panted running up to him, he was already exhausted “We need to go!”

Then he saw what was happening, and he saw Nikki

His heart sank, unable to believe what he was about to say

“Look, I know you’re scared of it, I am too! But there are already people dying! So if ever there was a time-”

Luke looked up at his younger brother, it felt so weird to get advice from him, but he was right… If ever there was a time, it was now

He let go of his hand and stood up in front of their view, 

“Time to let the monster out” He muttered

Nick stepped back

The robot raised his hand to end the girl’s life, but Luke was too fast

He lunged on it from above, his furry form completely crushing it,

But it was no longer Luke

The large wolf-like creature pinned the robot, growling as it bared its teeth, then in a swift move the monster ripped the head off in an act of rage

“Stand down!” the other D-1’s ordered aiming their guns away from the shocked Nikki

The beast’s red and bloodthirsty eyes narrowed, and its fur turned hard and brittle. It jumped off of its kill, over Nikki, rebounding off the wall of a building just as they opened fire, and with a roar it one of them ripping into its chest with powerful claws, then turned around to face the other one. Before the robot could fire it opened its mouth and roared/barked, blowing the bot off and over the edge with the force of it

Nikki, stumbled to her feet, terrified

The beast saw her, but before it could lunge again, there was another blur of motion and Nick carried Nikki up the stairs and onto the platform  

“What is that!?” She demanded as Nick set her down

“Look! We can’t let him see us like that, it isn’t his fault, but he doesn’t have much control when he does that, he’s a monster”

Nikki’s eyes narrowed, and her ears perked straight up

“He saved our lives,”

“Yes, and he is going to end them if you- HEY!!”

Nikki bolted off down the stairs, back toward Luke, stopping just behind him

“Hey!”

The doglike creature, who was rummaging through the bot, turned and looked at her, it kind of looked like a wolf, but was about twice the size,

It growled, then suddenly jerked back, like it was fighting itself. But Nikki didn’t focus on that, instead, she closed her eyes and focused on something she hadn’t focused on in a long time, and her ears suddenly started to glow

Nick watched from above, surprised as heck

The creature suddenly looked at her again, confusion on its furry face

You see, Nikki wasn’t exactly just a furry, yes, she was a furry, mainly a furry, but there was a side of herself that she kept hidden, a side not many knew.

She was also part Telepath. 

She concentrated hard, forcing herself to focus on transmitting one thought, 

Calm

Then she started walking toward the creature

It growled at her but quickly became unfocused as its other side fought against it

She stepped closer, and it growled again, but she didn’t let it scare her. She didn’t know why, but she suddenly knew that it wasn’t going to hurt her, she could sense the conflict inside of it

She touched its head, and immediately its eyes widened

It stumbled back, shaking its head vigorously, but it slowly stopped

She opened her eyes, as her ears returned to normal, to see the face of the monster, but it wasn’t anymore.

She had calmed it

Luke gave her a nod, now back in control

But before they could think anything more of it, they heard laughing

A lone figure in a black suit emerged from the flames of a building behind Nikki

And in an instant, he lunged towards them, but before they could react, he was suddenly slammed into the side of another building by some invisible force,

Max landed in front of him, his black mask hiding his face, and pinned him to the side with all his might, while the others stood awestruck

But Isaac started to move, laughing all the harder, though Max was giving it everything he had, but he felt himself getting pushed back, and in a last ditch effort he looked to the group beside him

“Wanna help?”
