Chase fell down the black shaft, forcing himself to stay conscious, but that was proving difficult

How could he have let Tech trick him like that again! He had obviously meant for him to tear that one open! And he had fallen right for it. He should’ve just immediately ripped up the floor and dived, but he was too focused on his pride-WOAH!

Chase saw the floor approach fast, and he didn’t have time to put his legs out before

BANG!!

“RRGGH!!” Chase grunted as he came to an immediate stop from a two-story fall

Normally that would’ve been easy, but this poison was really hurting him

Looking up, he discovered that he stood at the beginning of a long hallway, it apparently led into a big room, where all the other dead-end tunnels met up, and in the only wall that wasn’t taken up by a hallway, there was a door

Chase stood up, painful though it was

“Come on,” He said to himself, willing his legs to move

…Nothing

“Come on!”

… Still nothing

“COME ON!!!”

He felt his body give one last burst of energy, and he didn’t waste it

He shot down the long hallway and collapsed onto the floor of the main area, he was not giving up now, he was too far

Drawing his claws, he sliced the lock off of the door, and pulled it open,

There it was, the center of the network

He leaned on the door for support, and stared at the giant monitor, a monitor with an even bigger computer system behind it, and he grabbed his Ripper Code from his pack

“Here we go”

Stumbling forward, he jammed it into the USB slot, immediately seeing the screen come to life, but it wasn’t over yet.

The computer immediately started activating its firewalls, trying to block out the USB. Chase couldn’t let that happen, he had to get it through for it to work

He typed as fast as he possibly could, He was so close! He couldn’t lose now!! Not at this moment!

Boom! Broke through the first firewall

His eyes lit with hope

The second, the third, the fourth

“Yes, yes, YES!” He yelled, suddenly the code completed!! He moved his hand to press enter, every moment since he had escaped had been leading up to this, he couldn’t stop him, he was going to be the hero, he lifted his hand up and-

“That’s quite enough of that”

Chase turned to see- Too late

BANG!!!

Chase flew across the room slamming into the far wall and collapsed onto the floor. 

Before he could stand, he was yanked to his knees and held there by two heavy-duty D-1’s. Painfully he looked up,

 

... And there he was

“Tech” He grunted in pain

Tech stood by the computer, (Not a hologram) holding a big looking hammer with electricity crackling around it

“Hello Slash”

Chase felt the anger build inside of him

“No!” He yelled, instantly he tried to lunge forward with all his might, but to no avail as the D-1’s held him tight, and the poison was still painfully active, but still with every bit of strength he kept trying

Tech walked up to Chase holding the hammer in his hand

“Please don’t embarrass yourself more than you already have. You’re too weak anyway” Tech sighed

Tech could see the hatred in his son's eyes, to which he rolled his eyes 

“Out of everything you could think of, your best idea was to try and beat me with a virus?” Tech asked disgusted

“Why not?” Chase growled “You’re only human, just like everyone else"

Tech was taken aback, and slowly he stood up.

“Only human, hmm?” He said as he wrapped his fingers around the weapon

“Just like everybody-AAAGGHH!!!” Chase started, but he didn't finish

WHAM!

Tech brought the hammer down with tremendous force right on top of Chase’s head

“What have I taught you about underestimating your enemies Chase?!” He grunted as he lifted the object once more

Chase struggled to his feet and-

WHAAM!!

“AAAGGGHHH!!!” Chase grunted again as he was beaten into the wall

Throwing the hammer aside now Tech grabbed Chase’s body, lifted him up, and pinned him to the wall

“Don’t you ever say that I am just like everyone else ever again you miserable piece of nothing! I am so far beyond average, or normal that you might as well be a fly on a WALL!!” He growled

With all the strength he had left, Chase lifted his bleeding head, and glared at him

“One button left” Chase moaned “I could’ve stopped you with one button, that seems pretty average to me.”

Suddenly Tech's face turned calm, and he released his grip on Chase dropping him to the floor

 

For a second he just stood there, as if considering something

 

But then he looked at Chase, and smirked 

 

Casually he walked over to the computer

“Do you mean this button?” Tech asked condescendingly, holding his finger over the enter button

With the robots now holding him upright again, Chase stared at his father, trying to understand what the heck he was doing

“So by just pressing this button, you would bring me down?" He asked, gesturing to the button once more to make sure he had the right one "That’s it? This one, simple, easy little button?”

Chase said nothing

Tech looked at Chase, then at the button, then at Chase. And he smiled.

“Oh… What the heck!” He laughed

And he pushed the button

Immediately the entire screen lit up! The computers started to spark, the screen cracked, and the D-1’s shorted out, and collapsed, dropping Chase to the ground

And Tech smiled, no… He laughed

“Look alive son…You just took me down!”

Chase looked at Tech, in total shock, as the world turned into chaos around him

“W-Wha-Why?” He asked, “You just uploaded a virus into your system that will completely destroy everything that you’ve built!”

“Oh don’t be so naïve Chase!” Tech yelled rolling his eyes “It’s a virus, do you really think I can’t take a virus? What do you take me for?”

Chase got to his feet, wobbly, but still, he did.

“No, not just a virus, an Armageddon Code! It will slash and burn all the information that you’ve ever gotten, it will fry everything! You just caused your destruction!!” Chase yelled trying to convince Tech “Every test I ran! Everyone showed the same results, you have nothing that would stop this!”

But still, Tech smiled

 

Then he tapped in one line of code into his phone… And hit enter.

Immediately the D-1’s started to power back up again, and the computer stopped sparking

“No” Chase whispered as he collapsed onto the floor, hating the way Tech’s smiling face made him feel so small, so insignificant “That was the best thing that I had, you can’t have stopped it with one text from your phone!!”

“Grow up Chase! Tech suddenly yelled in frustration “That was your big master plan to stop me, download a scary virus into my system?? Did you really think that I wouldn’t have protocols for that!?” Tech fumed again “You have to think ahead! Why aren’t you thinking ahead?! What happened to you!?”

“Did you not think about the consequences of your actions, of you, loosing, for even a second?!”

Chase tried to think of something to say, but nothing came out

“Well congratulations, your virus did affect a couple of my systems, but not the ones you were expecting” Tech sighed, causing Chase’s heart to beat faster

“You just took out, every legitimate business that Tech Industries has ever started… Every Charity, every bit of relief work. Anything that could at all help people, was just destroyed… and now, people will die”

The words hit Chase worse than the hammer. Because of what Chase did, because he thought that he could be the hero because he thought he could save everybody, and because he thought he could take town Tech, people died.

He tightened his fist “Every move I make, People die! No matter what I do… More… People… Die”

Suddenly his com came alive in his ear

Max hit the ground as Isaac stood over him

He was just barely able to slow himself down in time to save himself, and survive the nine thousand foot drop

​

So right now he was standing out in the open, with the Grand Canyon dropping off all around him

​

But there was a slight problem, Isaac had managed to survive as well, and as soon as he had healed, he started fighting again.

Two D-1’s lifted him to his feet 

Isaac laughed, wiping the blood away from his mouth, then looked over behind him. Max did the same but regretted it immediately

A large, mechanical tentacle reached up over the side of the canyon and gripped the ground that Max and Isaac stood on, pulling the creature it was attached to out of the Canyon

“CHASE HELP!-------- IT’S HE--------- MONSTER!!”

“Max?” Chase asked suddenly in a panic but there was no response

“Max!” He yelled again, but still nothing

“What have you done?” He whispered 

“No Chase! What have you done?!” Tech exclaimed, “You’re the one who led him into this situation, and you’re the one who didn’t think it through, so you’re the one responsible!”

Tech turned back around from his rant

“You still don’t see, that the only way to fight me, is to play my game, to play the game! View people as they really are, pieces in a larger game! Rook takes pawn, pawn takes bishop, it’s all a game!” 

But Chase didn’t respond, he wasn’t even looking at Tech, he was just staring straight ahead

And then, The Dark Figure walked out from the shadows, it stood right beside Tech, and yet Tech didn’t even notice it. The shadows surrounding it flickered, giving glimpses of the monster inside

“I tried to warn you. You’re doing it all wrong…” It cooed “Being the Hero, is all wrong”

Tech smiled, and the Dark Thing faded away

“You brought this upon yourself… Because you didn’t see it coming” He spat “And I thought that I taught you better than that… Your actions have consequences”

Chase looked up at Tech just as the D-1’s grabbed him

He hit a button, and the wall behind Chase opened up, revealing another room. In it was a testing table, the kind that the patent lays down on and is strapped to, connected to a lot of power cables, and another control room separated by a piece of extremely strong glass.

But Chase didn’t care about the glass, he was focused on the heavy duty wires that were attached to the table

“No…” He whispered under his breath

In an even greater panic now he looked at Tech, the pure fear in his eyes, he knew what that machine was for

“No,” He said louder

Tech looked at Chase with cold dead eyes “I have no intention for this machine to kill you, in fact, I hope that it will teach you a lesson. But in your weakened state, it’s very possible that it will. And if that’s how this plays out, then just know that I tried to help you, I tried to help you take me one the right way, but you brought this upon yourself.”

“Tech, no, please I can’t do that again” Chase begged with terror on his face. He started fighting with everything that he had!

That machine will light you up with over two billion Gigawatts of electricity, which is still only a fraction of the electricity of the… Incident… But, I’m sure it will be more than enough, and if you do die, I don’t think your healing will bring you back.”

“Tech NO!! I CAN’T DO IT AGAIN!!!” He demanded! He pushed himself with all his might, he tried to use his speed to break out, he tried with everything he possibly could to escape what was about to happen…but too late, they dragged him kicking and fighting with all his power, 

And strapped him into the restraints

“Tech stop!! YOU WIN!! DON’T TURN ON THE MACHINE!!!” He begged, as Tech stepped behind the protective glass, and started to activate the controls 

“I REFUSE TO LET YOU!!! IF THERE IS ANY PART OF YOU THAT STILL CARES ABOUT-”

Tech cut him off

“And that’s where you make your mistake Chase.”

“Chase” stared terrified at the man behind the glass

“You betrayed me, you left me, and have been trying to go against me ever since.” He said coldly “So make no mistake Chase, you cannot expect sympathy from me. From here on, we are enemies”

Techs words hung in the air

“Do you understand me? We are enemies. I am not your father, you are not my son, we are the two opposing sides… We… Are… Enemies.”

Chase felt his heart sink, he knew that there was nothing that he could do

“Goodbye Hero”

He pulled the lever, and the machine activated, and right before it started, one single tear fell from Chase’s eye

The world seemed to slow, and Chase lit up with electricity.

With the lighting guns, it’s much less electricity, over a shorter period of time, but this.

“HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!” The creature laughed insanely, the electricity humming and crackling from its body. It raised its hands, and before Chase could run, it brought them down, and the world lit up with light and… PAIN!!!

So much pain and it didn’t stop!!! I NEVER STOPS!!!

IT DIDN’T STOP!!!!

“AAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!” Chase screamed in agony as the electricity cooked his insides and crackled inside of him, but it didn’t stop, it just didn’t stop!!! 

“HEEEELLLPPPPP MMMMEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!” He roared as his eyes started to melt, but Tech simply stood there

“AAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!”

The screams of agony echoed through the blackness of his mind

Desperately Chase looked up through the pain, his body crumpled on the dark ground, but it just stood there watching him

“I-I lost” Chase managed, hoping the thing would help him, those words hurt almost worse than the pain.  But it did nothing but continue to stand there, it was enjoying the pain Chase was in.

He was gonna make him say it

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!” Chase suddenly erupted, his body ready to give, his heart was about to explode any second

Once more, Chase forced himself to look up at the evil thing standing over him.

He couldn’t take this pain, he had to give in.

“Please” he stated, “I need your help” the words stung coming out of his mouth

The thing smiled

“I can’t do anything about it now,” The Dark Thing spoke amused “you lost”

Then it paused

“But what did we learn?”

Chase coughed up blood and looked up

“Heroes… Have… To… Make… Choices” He gasped

The Dark thing laughed “Very good! And?”

“Don’t… Be… The Hero” Chase wheezed

“Excellent!!” It congratulated lifting Chase up to stand on his own feet “And what’s the last thing?”

Chase hated himself for what he was about to say “I… Need… You”

It smiled again… “But I already offered to help, multiple times, and each time you shot me down…

Sooo… Why should I help you now?”

“Don’t you dare!!” Chase grunted, but it only laughed “You brought this upon yourself ‘Hero’”
Chase suddenly stood up, lightning crackling, and bursting out of his body

“STOP IT!!” He yelled, “I can’t die here!”

Shadow suddenly appeared in the blackness “What the heck is going on?!” He yelled, “How is he here!”

The Dark Thing laughed “You haven’t told him yet!?”

Chase turned and glared at him, “Stay out of this Shadow!”

But Shadow was having none of that

“Chase!” He began

“Yes?” The Dark Thing responded

Shadow stopped and looked at the two

“What?” He asked confused

“Well you said my name” The Dark thing smiled

Shadow looked at Chase, who suddenly didn’t look quite right “Chase what the heck is going on!? Who is that? Where are we!? WHO IS THAT!!??”

Chase looked up at Shadow, and spoke… except… it didn’t come from his mouth, instead, it was the Dark Thing that started speaking

“I’m me”

Suddenly the darkness evaporated, like fire dying out… Showing his face, and it was Chase, he was wearing his black speed suit with no mask, as opposed to Chase’s Slash suit, and his irises were glowing red

“I’m the real me, I’m who Tech raised, who he created!”

“I am Chase Parker Nology. Not this stupid persona that I created for myself,”

Shadow looked at the other chase, green-eyed chase

“What is he talking about? What does that mean?”

“AAAGGHH!!!” green eyes chase suddenly yelled collapsing onto the ground, the white electricity covering every inch of him

Red Eyed Chase ignored the other, and looked at Shadow, and snapped his fingers

“Riley.” He whispered opening his eyes, “I did it, it’s gone”

She smiled, relieved

“From now on, this is me.” He smiled, as his body seemed to fill with life, once more Riley felt him start to vibrate, but this time, it was subtle, it was calm. “From now on, I choose to feel, I promise…

“I choose to feel”

“That was the moment” Chase spat as the memory died out “That was the moment that I created him”

He gestured to the green-eyed chase that was trying to stand up

“The Hero that only wanted to do good. The one that wanted to feel”

“To feel is Human!” chase argued

“And to be human is BORING!” Chase shot back with a laugh, then he turned back to Shadow

“I’m Tech’s son, what did you expect?” He smirked

Green eyed chase stood up,

“Help me” he gasped

“There is only one way that I’ll help you, and I think you know what it is” Chase responded

At this chase became angry, 

“I WILL NEVER BE YOU AGAIN!!” He yelled

Chase’s body convulsed on the table, electricity frying every inch of him. it was painful to watch, but Tech watched his son scream and convulse, and die, without even the slightest sign of emotion

Chase laughed harder, “You already are! You’re just a fragment of my personality!! I made a mistake, I panicked, and I thought that I needed to become more human, to feel… But even your emotions aren’t real! You just act in the way you think that you should be acting for that situation, and it slows things down so much!”

chase felt his heart start to melt

“You’re just a fragment” Chase chuckled, and it’s time you gave me back the driver’s seat

“But I know what you are like, you're cold, you're heartless, you’ll sacrifice the pawns to save the bishops!” chase grunted “I would rather die! I don’t need to win!”

“OBVIOUSLY!!! YOU DO!!!!!” Chase erupted as the green-eyed one screamed in pain from another shot of electricity, “HOW ARE YOU NOT UNDERSTANDING THIS BY NOW!?!?!!? IT… IS… A… GAME!!!!!! EVERYTHING, IT’S ALL A GAME!!! IT’S CHESS!!! JUST OPEN YOUR EYES AND SEE THE FREAKING BOARD!!!”

Then he paused “NO SCRATCH THAT!!! YOU CAN’T SEE THE BOARD, ONLY I CAN!!!!” Then he drew his claws “It’s time. You’ve run from this, long enough! You don’t even have a right to BE HERE!!! THIS IS MY HEAD, AND I’M TAKING IT BACK!!!”

“I can’t let everyone die!” chase retaliated, smoke coming off his body

Chase rolled his red eyes, “I’m not saying let everyone die! I’m telling you that you can’t save them all if you want to save everyone”

chase stopped,

“…He’s… Right”

Shadow was horrified

“Chase NO! Think about-”

“Will you shut up, you aren’t even real!” chase yelled in anger, but it came from the others mouth “You are just a mechanism to help me solve problems, I created you! You’re nothing more than a glorified imaginary friend!”

Shadow stepped back, and chase (green-eyed chase) walked forward.

“And I don’t need you anymore”

He snapped his fingers, and Shadow disappeared. Then he immediately collapsed to the ground, coughing blood from his mouth.

Chase walked up to him, “It’s time”

Tech looked over, there was a sudden spike in his vitals, in his energy output. Gradually he looked over at Slash

“I know” the other replied. He stood up, it was painful, but he did it, and he faced his real self. It wasn’t a split personality, it wasn’t an evil side of himself… it was the real him, trying to break free. Trying to take his mind back from a parasite that had gotten too attached.

chase’s eyes narrowed “Do it”

Tech’s eyes widened

Chase smiled, and in a lightning-quick move, he drew his blade from his arm and ran it through the fragment

Tech looked at his son. And in the instant before, he saw his eyes open. And suddenly!-

BOOOOOMMMM!!!!! 

Tech was thrown back, into the wall

The entire lab was suddenly covered in flames and thick smoke

 “What the?” Tech grunted, grunted. Then suddenly two D-1’s came smashing through the glass, the same glass that just withstood an explosion, and they hit the ground beside Tech, each with one giant slash in their chest

Tech stumbled to his feet and looked into the smoke and flames, and he heard the laughing.

It was subtle at first, but then it got louder and harder, someone was laughing, because it was so funny!

And Chase emerged from the smoke, his entire body was vibrating with power, with anger! His eyes glowed red, in fact, his whole body was glowing red, he was emanating pure energy! From his arms, protruded two long sword-like Zenith-Steel Blades… And he was laughing hysterically
Chase couldn’t stop laughing!!! Because suddenly everything made sense!! He could see the connections forming more connections, he could see where he stood, HE COULD SEE THE BOARD!!!

And it was SO FUNNY!!

Then suddenly he stopped, remembering the last couple of seconds in detail

“Oh, that’s right! The battle!”
